An old-vine Barossa shiraz that’s come together as if by magic: a potion of concentrated blackberries, coffee beans and the echo of preserved cherries in a jar. Now remove the overt sweetness. Throw in a few pencils (stay with us here). Pop the jar next to the coffee pot gurgling away on the stove. Using an eye dropper, add the final squeeze of moisture from several tons of blackberries boiled and compressed down to a pinhead. It’s not magic, thankfully. Who knows what this potion would conjure up. But maybe it is?
